best Scottish family-friendly holiday places

Are you thinking about planning a trip abroad, but have not been sure where to visit?  I totally understand that pain.  There are so many amazing places to visit in the world, it is incredibly difficult to narrow it down to just one place.

Of course, when you are deciding to take your family along with you, there is still more that goes into it beyond just “where do we want to go?”  We have to consider where will be safe and welcoming for children as well as adults while keeping everybody happy and entertained.

If this sounds like a conundrum that you have been contending with, then this is the article for you.  Besides just explaining some of the appeal of Scotland like this page, https://www.scotlandinfo.eu/scotland-facts-and-figures/, I want to go over some of the most family-friendly attractions and sights there.  So, stay tuned!

The Edinburgh Zoo

Is there anything as crowd-pleasing as zoos?  In all truthfulness, one of my fondest memories from my childhood was visiting a little hotel in West Virginia.  You know what stood out to me most?  The zoo!

Obviously, we are talking about a much larger-scale site in this case.  What are some of the animals here?  Well, they have otters, lions, capuchins, lemurs, pandas, zebras, and more!  So, if you have been looking for a site for your family to visit, this might be the place.

Culzean Castle and National Park

Your first thought when bringing children along might not be to visit a castle but let me explain.  Imagine you are staying at one of the Best Scottish Cottages, surrounded by nature and history.  The kids might be curious to see more, or even just want to learn about where they are staying!

So, what better opportunity than visiting a castle and natural park, rich in history?  Of course, there are plenty of locations like this one, but I have selected it for my list today due to its charm and versatility in terms of an attraction for the whole family.  Why is that?

Well, even on their own page they say they welcome people of all ages, so that is certainly a plus.  In addition to that, though, there is both an inside and an outside to explore.  This means that even if someone does not like one or the other, you will probably be able to reach a compromise.

The Glenfinnan Monument

This one may seem like another more obscure choice, but I have picked it for good reason.  Largely, the beautiful nature that surrounds it.  For the outdoorsy among us, this one is a sure way to inspire awe!

The monument itself is there to honor Jacobite clansmen.  Even if you are not interested in the history of it, the landscapes and views are well worth the trip.

Luskentyre Sands

Admittedly, most people do not go to Scotland to enjoy time on the beach.  That being said, just because the weather is chilly does not mean you can’t have a great time!  This beach is renown for its stunning views and pristine sand.

The water there is blue-green, making for a more unique experience than some of the sights back home in the United States.  It is on the Isle of Harris in northwestern Scotland, but even if you are not staying in that area, the trip should not take too long.

Final Thoughts?

No matter where you decide to visit in Scotland, you are bound to have a good time.  Anyone looking to spend time there should familiarize themselves with potential lodgings and accommodations, of course.  That is especially true if you are traveling with multiple people.

So, just remember that hotels are not your only option – there are cottages too!  Stay in one and enjoy the best sights that this beautiful place has to offer, all while enjoying modern comforts of home.
